Amidst China’s national “dual carbon” strategy, a brand-new green landmark has quietly risen. Designed by Academician Cui Kai of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Carbon Neutrality Industry Exhibition Center in the Sino-German Carbon Valley, Tianqu New Area, is themed “Great Virtue Like Water, A City of Carbon Neutrality.”
With a total investment of RMB 1.18 billion, covering 99,000 m² (148.5 mu) of land, and a gross floor area of approximately 92,000 m², the center integrates five standard exhibition halls and one carbon-neutral demonstration hall. Leveraging its high-speed rail hub advantage, it aims to create a new powerhouse for green exhibition economy and stimulate the synergy of an “urban growth belt.”
For a building with such a green mission, the building itself must serve as a model of low-carbon technology – and the exterior curtain wall is a critical choice. Traditional curtain wall systems suffer from inadequate thermal insulation, limited panel sizes, poor design flexibility, and low construction efficiency. These shortcomings are obstacles that must be overcome to turn “dual carbon” architecture from concept into reality.
To meet the demanding performance and aesthetic requirements of this architectural mission, we have matched the project with the ELKOM® Integrated Metal Insulated Curtain Wall System. Through customization, it addresses multiple challenges:
Custom oversized ribbed panels – up to 10 m long, reducing vertical joints. Integrated with a 180 mm thick insulation layer for fast installation, stable thermal performance, and significantly improved insulation continuity and efficiency.
Precision sheet metal forming – rhythmic undulations with precisely controlled wave peaks and valleys, achieving a visually continuous facade without horizontal seams, forming a rhythmic “architectural base.”
Fiberglass-reinforced polyurethane profiles + high-strength structural rock wool + inner/outer metal panels – delivering outstanding thermal insulation and mechanical performance, forming an ultra-low-energy curtain wall system. The overall heat transfer coefficient significantly exceeds national standards, supporting the project’s carbon-neutral operation goals.
On the road to carbon neutrality, what can a building do?
It starts with every square meter of the curtain wall – exploring the future of carbon.
The “Great Virtue Like Water” building is not only fluid and inclusive in form, but also restrained, balanced, and sustainable in performance.
The Carbon Neutrality Industry Exhibition Center in the Sino-German Carbon Valley, Tianqu New Area, is more than a building – it is a green manifesto for the future. And the ELKOM® Integrated Metal Insulated Curtain Wall System is like the “green growth rings” embedded in this land, recording the steady steps of China’s green buildings toward a “carbon-neutral sample.”
